Bigs used their creativity to complete and bring to the life the sentence, “My Little has a big heart because … .”

Anna used to volunteer with her local library as a tutor to younger students, which motivated her to find more ways to connect with youth. Now a sophomore at Oxford Academy High School, Anna discovered the High School Bigs program and became a mentor to Little Sister Daniela this school year. Anna aspires to be a forensic pathologist and is currently enrolled in biomedical classes to achieve her goal. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music and painting with water colors.

By Big Sister Alanni, matched with Little Sister Sarai

[/fwp-anim-text][fwp-anim-text animated=”true” animation=”enter right move 10px over 1s after” extra_class=””]Alanni has been a mentor to Little Sister Sarai for the past three school years. They first met when Alanni was a freshman and Sarai a second grader. Alanni joined the program because she has benefited from a large support system of family and friends and wanted to provide the same encouragement she has received to a younger student. As for her future goals, Alanni plans to attend Harvard or UCSD and continue working with children as a pediatrician.

By Big Sister Lizet, matched with Little Brother Jonathan

[/fwp-anim-text][fwp-anim-text animated=”true” animation=”enter right move 10px over 1s after”]When Lizet first heard of the High School Bigs, she realized the impact she could have on a Little in the program. She never had a mentor figure in her life but hoped that by being encouraging, positive and consistent, she could be a role model to someone else. Lizet joined as a freshman and has since been a mentor to two students. Lizet will graduate from high school this year and begin her journey of becoming a surgeon to continue making a difference in the world. (She also plans to minor in art during college as it’s one of her passions!)
