In May, Big Brothers Big Sisters workplace mentoring program Beyond School Walls celebrated the graduation of one of its cohorts, Experian and Estancia High School. As part of the festivities, a pinning ceremony and reception took place on the Experian campus in Costa Mesa for 21 matches.

Heartfelt speeches from Big Brothers Big Sisters program specialist Latilla Cain, Estancia High School teacher Denise Moore and, of course, Bigs and Littles (who have been matched since the students were just freshmen) validated the power of mentorship in the matches’ lives.[/fwp-anim-text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=”” el_id=””][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space height=”32px”][vc_single_image image=”5080″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][fwp-anim-text animated=”true” animation=”enter right move 10px over 1s after”]

“My mentor Karim has given me a lot of advice,” Little Brother Bryant says. “I’m going to San Diego State University next year and I want to thank him for all his help. I was going into college thinking I was going to go undecided until he started explaining the major of computer science to me. … I’m thankful to this program and all the things it’s done for me.”

Throughout the past four years, matches met once a month for a 90-minute session focused on goal development, college and career readiness, and relationship building. By the end of the ceremony, the impact of the workplace mentoring program was clear: Life-changing mentoring relationships were created, strengthened and will continue to thrive.
