Meet the Match

Big Sister Kirsten and Little Sister Devyn were matched just a few months ago and have already enjoyed the best outing together.

When they first met, Devyn shared her interest in comic books and love for anime cartoons with Kirsten. Hearing about Devyn’s passions inspired Kirsten to plan a day trip to Little Tokyo for their next outing so Devyn could learn more about Japanese culture. There, they explored the neighborhood and Devyn even tried ramen noodles for the first time!

This kind of experience is one that Devyn’s mother hoped her daughter would be able to have with a mentor. Diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, Devyn’s mother found herself unable to give Devyn the attention and support she deserved. Devyn needed someone who could be there to help her try new things and have fun during these difficult times.

As a teacher’s aide, music and youth director, Kirsten always made time for those in her life. Whether it was giving advice to a friend or feedback to youth during practice, Kirsten’s ability to make a positive impact on others was undeniable to friends and family.

Kirsten and Devyn’s trip to Little Tokyo is definitely not the last of their adventures or their friendship.
