Reimagining a Network Based on Shared Values

By Sarah Jauch-French, Alumni Network Lead
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County & the Inland Empire

In 2025, we reimagined what it means to be part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters family—beyond the match relationship, beyond the program. The result? A revitalized Alumni Network, designed to connect everyone who’s ever been a Big or a Little to one another and to our ongoing mission.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters, we believe talent is equally distributed, but opportunity is not. Too many young people face challenges they can’t navigate alone. Mentorship bridges that gap—empowering youth to see their potential and inspiring adults to lead with purpose.

Our Alumni Network is built around shared values: belief in the power of mentorship, optimism about the next generation, and a deep commitment to giving back. We’ve seen firsthand how consistent, caring relationships can change the trajectory of a life—helping young people rise above challenges, build confidence, and chase dreams that once felt out of reach.

If that sounds like you, consider this your invitation. Welcome to our community.
We are truly Bigger Together.

Meet Our Alumni Board Chairs: Jen & Matt Olson

We’re thrilled to introduce Jen and Matt Olson, the inaugural Co-Chairs of our Alumni Network Board.

Jen and Matt have been a Big Couple to their Little Sister, Abbie, for 14 years—a relationship that continues to inspire all of us. Professionally, both lead successful careers in the finance industry, where they exemplify integrity, excellence, and a passion for long-term financial well-being. Their dedication to financial literacy and community impact extends naturally into their work with Big Brothers Big Sisters.

We asked them to share their perspective on mentorship and their hopes for this new chapter of alumni engagement:

Q: Why does mentorship matter to you?
A: “As a Big Couple to our Little Sister, Abbie, for 14 years, we know firsthand that mentorship works! It provides encouragement, perspective, and opportunities that can transform life trajectories—while also fostering leadership and service in those who mentor. Consistent mentorship breaks cycles, builds futures, and creates impact that lasts far beyond the initial relationship.”

Q: What do you hope to achieve with the Alumni Network under your leadership?
A: “As Chairs of the Big Alumni Board, our vision is to build a dynamic Alumni Program that strengthens connections, expands opportunities, and amplifies the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County & the Inland Empire. With thousands of passionate former Bigs in our community, we see tremendous potential to mobilize alumni and ensure mentorship continues to change lives. If you’re an Alumni Big, now is the time to come together—your involvement matters.”

Please join me in congratulating Jen and Matt Olson on their new leadership roles and in celebrating this exciting new chapter for our Alumni Network!
