Match Responsibility & Agreement for VolunteerS
Updated March 25, 2021
During the first year of the match, I am required to have a live conversation with my Match Support Specialist (Case Manager) at least once a month via phone or in person. Once my match reaches a year mark, I will be required to have live conversations on a quarterly basis. These contacts are required as long as I am an active participant of the program. During these conversations:
- My Match Support Specialist will ask me a series of questions to assess the status of my match
- I am encouraged to share any concerns and ask my Match Support Specialist any questions I may have in regards to the match
- I am required to update any changes in contact information with my Match Support Specialist
I am required to have a live conversation with my Match Support Specialist within 10 days of their first attempt to contact me, in order to maintain my match in good standing with the agency. If I do not have a conversation with my Match Support Specialist within those 10 days, I will receive emails, texts, and letters via mail indicating that I have a live conversation pending. If I fail to respond to these attempts, or for other reasons, my match may be terminated.
In addition, I commit to:
- Seeing my Little 2 to 4 times a month
- Not bring along friends, family members, or other individuals on our outings for the first 6 months of the match
- Not spend a lot of money on outings or buy them gifts (unless approved by my Match Support Specialist)
- Not bring my Little over to my house for the first 6 months of our match
- Follow all the policies, procedures, and guidelines that are outlined in the Volunteer Manual (which was given to me today)
- Never have an overnight outing with my Little including any associated family members.
I fully understand my responsibilities as a participant in the program and agree to adhere to all of the above requirements and guidelines set forth by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County and the Inland Empire. I understand that my match may be terminated if I do not adhere to the above requirements and guidelines or for other reasons. By signing below, I certify that I have read, understand and agree to comply with all rules and regulations set forth herein, in the Volunteer Manual and as otherwise provided by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County and the Inland Empire.

Virtual Match Outing Agreement for Volunteers
With the current Shelter-in-Place executive order from Governor Newsom in effect until further notice as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County and the Inland Empire is offering new matches the opportunity to proceed with the enrollment process through Virtual Match Meetings. These match outings will utilize phone calls, video chats, social media apps, writing letters, and other non in-person means of staying connected until such time as the Shelter-in-Place order is lifted. New matches made under this agreement through Virtual Match Meetings are only permitted to connect through virtual contacts until the Shelter in Place order is lifted. Your Match Support Specialist will meet in person with parent/ guardian, Little and Big prior to the first in-person outing.
This agreement provides additional details that outline the expectations associated with virtual match outings. These rules will help all match parties know what to expect and have confidence moving forward in a new match relationship in addition to our Traditional Program Policies that all participating Bigs, Littles and Parent/Guardian agree to upon enrolling in the program.
If you have any questions, please let your Match Support Specialist know. We realize this is an unprecedented time and we are committed to working alongside you to make your match a success and ensure virtual mentoring helps our kids stay connected and supported. We will tackle any unknown as it arises, as long as you keep us informed.
